I find Adobe’s new free online text edit services at Acrobat.com useful, but limiting, because although users can create and edit documents, import standard text documents and use the free tools provided to create pdf’s, the developers have withheld the ability to import and edit existing pdf documents.
Many people can’t justify purchasing Adobe Acrobat Professional to edit pdf documents, because they need to perform such edits rarely. The FREE online tools below may be just what you need to edit pdf’s and save the files to your computer.
PDF Hammer is a useful little application for doing limited editing to pdf documents online. Upload your document(s), delete or reorder pages, edit author information and download the editing document.
PDF textonline is a really useful tool for editing pdf’s that are primarily text based. Again, after uploading and editing the text in your document, you can download the edited file and save it as a text file if you wish.
Perhaps the most powerful online PDF editing tool is PDF Escape. Since I last wrote about this free application, it has added a host of editing features that make it a good choice if you need to edit your pdf by doing more than simply rearranging pages or changing a bit of text.

Be sure to add one or more of these free online pdf editors to your bookmarks and the next time someone sends you a pdf document that requires editing, you’ll do it simply and quickly from within your internet browser.
Message for Adobe: How about allowing folks to edit pdf’s for free on your Acrobat.com site? What’s the point of allowing folks to upload pdf documents and share them? Doesn’t it make sense that the people I’d like to share pdf documents with might want to suggest edits and make those edits on your site instead of going elsewhere?
