from a poor, annoying Facebook user Experience . . .
By default, Facebook users receive email notification when their friends reply to status updates or comments. If you are like me, you have replied to more than one of these emails only to have it bounce back to your inbox. Foiled by an annoying user experience, I have copied the response, then logged into my Facebook account, found the original note and pasted my response.
It wasn’t user friendly, but for Facebook, it achieved their goals and got me back into the web site to burn a few more minutes of my day.
to a better Facebook user experience . . .
Facebook has finally seen the light and created a better user experience.
Now when Facebook users receive those email notifications they can reply by email and the status update automatically goes where it belongs on the Facebook site.

It may not help Facebook achieve it’s goal of generating the maximum amount of revenue from members, but improving the Facebook user experience will make members happier with the service.
Is your User Experience all it should be?
I’m taking this as a cue to review the user experience of our Web site and ensure that the user experience makes it as convenient and easy as possible for my guests to get what they want. It might be a good idea to put on the mindset of your ideal client and go through your site and guest relationship management process looking for annoyances. Have your team spend some time doing the same. Then, make changes that put your ideal guest needs front and centre.
What user experiences annoy you?

You know what, that is a *great* idea!! I'm definitely going to have to look at doing this too, because last time I checked the 'noreply' email account we send from, it was packed with replies. How come I hadn't thought of this earlier given the fact we already parse emails in multiple other areas?! Thanks for the tip
Todd, thank you! This is a great article. UX is extremely important, especially as the online community and community's range grows. Facebook is a good example of this, and your article points out a couple key aspects of the importance of user experience. Check out our blog and the few articles my colleagues have written about user experience. Thanks Todd, I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future!
