Every Traveler has an Audience

When planning your marketing this year, remember that every traveler has an audience. Do what you can to make it easy for them to reach their audience and share their great travel experience with their audience:

  • make it easy to upload and share photos, stories, video by giving access to free or almost free wifi high speed internet.
  • post signs encouraging guests to connect with their followers and friends on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.
  • tell folks your #hashtag or encourage folks to use your business name in their posts.
  • BE GREAT. If you are, you’ll capture buzz, particularly from early season visitors who will influence their FOLLOWERS TO VISIT THIS YEAR.

Please add your ideas on making it easy to benefit from your Ideal Guest’s audience.  Love to hear.

  • The hospitality & tourism industry is a great place to be for social media, because travelers naturally want to share their experiences. Our job here is just to enable this and make it easy. As you say, something as basic as providing free, fast wifi can mean the difference between someone sharing their experience and not.

It's also important to provide pointers on HOW to share the media. Right now I'm working on developing a 'blogger welcome kit' for a hotel, and it's a challenge to know how much access you can provide, and who you can provide it to.

With one blogger, a staff person can walk them around the property, showing special features and so on. But who do you provide that service for? How can you publicize the package without excluding people?
