All of the points are spot on, but I particularly like #2.  While involvement in social media can be exetremely rewarding for you and your brand, it does take some work.

I say &#039;work,&#039; but if you are passionate about social media, it does not seem like that much work.

When I talk to our communities or other CVBs, too many of them assume that participating in social media is simply creating a Facebook page and setting it free.  They need to communicate, read, post, talk...

As you say, you have to be involved in the conversation for other people to talk about you.
