Bridging the Digital Divide

by Todd Lucier on October 5, 2008

How does the digital economy create wealth?

Todd talks about Ontario’s Digital Economy Conference Highlights.
The three areas where our communities create wealth by moving to a digital economy:

  • economic impact
  • social and cultural impacts
  • environmental – climate related impacts

Successfully moving your community and businesses to the digital economy can increase sustainability and increase revenue 100%.  Businesses with high speed access earn twice as much money as those without!

Bridging the Digital Divide:

Necessary factors that need to be found in sustainable communities:

  • broadband access
  • training / education to create a knowledgeable workforce
  • business tools and community applications that communities can use.

In order to make the best use of these three factors communities need to have champions who are willing to make it happen for you community,  and people willing to create partnerships and be bold to do things they can’t do on their own.

What are the factors that create the conditions for collaborative partnerships?

  • thanks Doug.
I hope folks save the energy from the free cheers and instead make a phone call to the people that can bring about fat pipes if their community is lacking high speed internet..... critical.
  • "training / education to create a knowledgeable workforce"

"champions who are willing to make it happen for your community"

    Three cheers Todd!
