Two new reasons to monitor your online reputation

I’ve often stressed the importance of having a great tourism product, caring about what folks have to say about your business, and managing your online reputation. Two news items remind tourism businesses of the importance of reputation management.

First, user generated reviews play a significant role with the release of the new iPhone in Canada. A traveller’s best friend, new applications including location-smart search results on free applications like Local Picks by TripAdvisor allow travellers to search for nearby local businesses – restaurants, b&b’s, hotels, attractions and benefit by seeing user ratings and reviews and instantly get directions to their choice with built-in gps!

If you are like me, you’ve found yourself in unfamiliar location with a tummy growl and wondering about your dining choices…. this app, solves your problem in spades.

Also, Techcrunch today posted this video showing screenshots of new google search results being tested in the wild. The new results allow the user (with their google account) to make suggested edits to search results.
