3 Ways to Get Video of your Guests NOW!

by Todd Lucier on July 19, 2008

Video is an important component in e-marketing and the best use of video is the credibility that your current guests will offer next year’s guests.  Catch your guests having a great time and invite them to share their excitement about your place on video.

Whether posted on your web site or hosted on sites like Youtube, Veoh, or Blip.tv , do what you can to get guest video now.

3 ways to capture video of your guests this summer….

  • Get a simple-to-use video deviceFlip Video rocks (<$170 at Walmart in Canada)
  • Hold a contest - I got this great email from Deerhurst in Ontario, inviting guests to share their video by entering a contest.
  • Invest in your staff - yes, pay them to capture, edit and upload video right away.  Schedule 4 hours each week for them to help get guest video you need.

It doesn’t matter what role your staff play, it could be a twit clearing tables in the dining room, making beds, answering the phone.  If you give a twit the the opportunity to do a task like shooting video, you’ll build staff morale at the same time as get the content you need to market your travel business.

High , thanks for your great idea, I have justy taken over the high falls cottage resort in muskoka and am looking for more ways to integrate social media and resort activities. I think a best video or funniest video contest might be worth trying. Keep your posts coming, I look forward to reading what's next

  • Todd,
I took you advice and went to WalMart today to get a FlipPhone.
When I got there, I found another phone for slightly less money, that shoots optional HD Video and has a SD card slot.
Its called Mercury Movie PIX HD DV Camcorder.
    Software and cables included.

It's a lot easier to carry than my digital camera.

    Thanks for the tip.

    Gord
