Adding video to your site is a great idea

Hello Everyone,

My name is Natalie Lucier. I am Todd’s daughter and I have learned a lot from him over the last few years. I recently got a job up in North Western Ontario and I am now creating web content for Superior North CFDC (not-for-profit organization) to help promote the North shore of lake Superior. Although, I just started this job in May, I have been traveling around the region and visiting and meeting with local business owners. I have been keeping my eye out for opportunities to get out in the wilderness and find great places to shoot some photos and video to promote the area.

I just produced a video that we will be posting to our local community sites for the townships of Nipigon and Red Rock, Ontario. This video is showcasing “Fishing on the Nipigon river”. Which is located off of highway #17 heading West towards Thunder Bay. I packed my bags and booked in to stay at the Quebec Lodge in Red Rock from Sunday-Tuesday. I planned to get out fishing on the Nipigon river for 2 days and try and get as much footage as possible. The only problem was that it rained the entire time I was there! I still managed to get some footage to put together a nice story (in between the rain) to promote fishing on the river. I used photos, video and voice over to create this story.

Let me explain the time it took to put this together:

  • 2 days of shooting and then
  • 1 day of uploading and saving data to computer. (video takes a LONG time to upload…) especially if you have hours of footage to upload.
  • Over 2 days I reviewed all of the content and picked out best clips and pieced them together.
  • Over another 2 days I wrote the script and produced the voice over.
  • Over the next 2 days I edited and re-edited the entire video.
  • Looking back, it took quite a bit of time.  Keep in mind I did this on my own and the video is over 7 minutes long. I did all of the work from shooting video and photos to interviews to editing and producing and voice overs.

I’m sure future video production will not take as long as I develop my skills.  Keep in mind, this is the first full video shoot I’ve ever been on, having a background in audio production.  Here is the video! I hope that you enjoy it! And please send me feedback. I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments! natalielucier@gmail.com

Thanks!
