Google Maps – a video tutorial

by Todd Lucier on April 12, 2007

Check out the Video

I’m so excited by the potential of Google Maps to enhance your Web site that I created a short show and tell video. Communities have great opportunity to create their own maps showing the highlights of people, places and things to do. Have a gander at how easy it is to do, then get started at http://maps.google.com and click on My Maps. Of course with all things Google, you need a Google account to get started.

I also shot a short video, showing how maps can be imported into an even more dynamic environment: Google Earth. View Video Google Earth from Toronto to Algonquin Park. The actual experience is much more smooth and movie like than can be shown in this presentation, but you’ll get the idea of the possibilities.

And of course, the best part, this is all FREE!!

    Hi Celes,
I use a little program to capture my screen... turn on itunes for a little background music and just record the voice over as I zoom in on Google Earth. I'll share the link later.

    Hi Todd,

Great video....easy to follow. How did you produce the movie?
    The map animation...
    Voice over
    The music

    Did you use Flash? Or?

    Curious...I see some potential applications.

    Thanks,

    Celes

Helloooo iTod - great little tutorial there. Thanks so much for making that link for us! I've been using GoogleMaps for awhile as a traveler but duh, it never occured to me to develop one for the Bay of Fundy website. I'm going to do it now!!
